Arlene Inouye

Arlene Inouye is the UTLA Secretary and the UTLA Bargaining Team Co-Chair during the historic contract fight and UTLA strike in January 2019 to the present. She has also served as UTLA Treasurer and led UTLA through the “Build the Future Fund the Fight” campaign that addressed UTLA’s structural deficit in order to provide greater support for members and organizational sustainability.

Through the years she has been a community organizer, human rights activist, parent educator, Multicultural and Human Relations Specialist and leader in progressive educational reform.  She founded and led CAMS (Coalition for Alternatives to Militarism in our Schools) for 9 years.

Arlene is a Bilingual Speech and Language Specialist for over 18 years in Los Angeles Unified School District where three generations of her family have attended LA public schools.
