jean-huy tran (he/him) is a queer Vietnamese immigrant who migrated to the US in 1990. He is an organizer with the Center on Policy Initiatives & the coalition organizer for the Community Budget Alliance, focusing on the city budget advocating for more transparency in the budgeting process and equity for the marginalized communities.

As a local San Diego activist and organizer, he organizes in various partisan and nonpartisan spaces, including the Indivisible network in San Diego, We the People SD, Progressive Democratic Club, TRUST SD coalition, #TeamJustice coalition SD API coalition and Viet Vote. His advocacy includes criminal justice reform, social, racial and economic justice and equity, rent stabilization, mass surveillance technology, police accountability, defund the police, state legislation and voter education. His advocacy works within the AAPI communities are focused on electoral and AAPI representation.
