Roberto Edward de la Riva Rojas
Roberto began organizing in 2005 at the University of Wisconsin La-Crosse, bridging Latinx cultural identity with other anti-racist people of color groups. After graduation, he began organizing with the Mexico Solidarity Network in Chicago, founding an adult immigrant high school and creating a powerful multi-racial coalition against the foreclosure crisis that included public protests at every major bank. This movement helped re-frame the national debate around housing rights, and inspired a critically acclaimed play called “I will kiss these walls”. Roberto earned a master’s degree in Community Organizing and Popular Education from the Autonomous University of Social Movements. In 2015 he returned to his hometown of Minneapolis where he co-founded Inquilinxs Unidxs Por Justicia, an organization that creates tenant power through community building and direct action.
